Eva Longoria

April 29th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in American Girls

Besides being named #1 on Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 of 2005 list, a star on the ABC drama “Desperate Housewives” and a L’Oreal spokesmodel, you with think Eva Longoria might be a little “full of herself”. In reality, she is the same very well-grounded individual she was back on her family’s ranch in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Born on March 15, 1975, Eva Longoria was the youngest of four girls in her family. She will tell you that everything came to her late in life. Because her sisters all have fair skin and blue eyes, she considered herself the “ugly duckling” of the family. This misguided thought haunted her into her teens until she finally blossomed into a beautiful and vivacious young woman. She graduated from the University of Texas A&M in Kingsville with a B.S. in Kinesiology (the study of anatomy, physiology and mechanics of body movement in humans). After graduating college she entered a beauty contest, becoming Miss Corpus Christi, which brought her to Los Angeles, CA.

After being spotted and signed by a Los Angeles talent agent, Eva began her assent to stardom with auditions and bit parts in many mostly forgettable roles until she landed the coveted role of Isabella Williams on the very popular CBS daytime drama “The Young and The Restless”. After stint on “Y&R”, Eva landed the role of Gabrielle Solis on the #1 rated show, ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”.

Although Eva is quite busy with her exciting and thriving acting career, she still has time to use her stardom in a productive manner for several charities. Two organizations that are very dear to her are the “Padres Contra el Cancer” and the “Dolores Huerta Foundation”. Padres Contra el Cancer is a small non-profit organization which seeks to improve the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. The Dolores Huerta Foundation is an advocate for social justice issues concerning women, youth, farm workers, immigrants and poor communities.
